Dementia Care

Dementia is a big umbrella of conditions characterised by impairment of brain functions. Various other neurological and psychological disorders exhibited during ageing like bipolarity, schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease etc come under the Dementia umbrella.

It is a complex lifestyle disease directly connected to loss of memory and judgement affecting thinking and social symptoms.  Symptoms include forgetfulness, limited social skills and thinking abilities so impaired that it interferes with daily functioning.

Depending on the area of the brain that’s damaged, it can affect different people differently and cause different symptoms.

The onset of this disorder is not visible in most patients. Symptoms often get visible at a very later stage.

WHY IS HELP NEEDED FOR DEMENTIA PATIENTS?

It is predicted that in the next 10 years, 1 in 6 people in the world will be aged 60 years+ and the percentage of this elderly population affected by Dementia is alarmingly high and is going on increasing. Statistics suggest that there are more than 10 million Dementia cases per year in India alone.

Owing to the alarming ratio of  neurological and psychological issues leading to Dementia, the need for focused care increases by the day. These patients cannot be housed in an ordinary institution, rehabilitation centre, hospital or old age home. They need well focused and special care; not just in the form of medical facilities but specialised care in a safe, secured and comfortable environment incorporating a different type of routine.

Society lacked this dedicated place or centre to fill in this gap and this is one of the main reasons for the foundation of Tapas.

We are a focused, dedicated and specialised centre developed with specific expertise, experience and training. We actively work on diagnosis and care as these situations cannot be handled and are unmanageable at home.
